NEW US BORDER REQUIREMENTS AS OF SEPTEMBER 16TH, 2005 The US Customs and Border services have announced that starting on
September 16th, 2005, a declaration must be provided
for all wooden packaging materials entering the United States from Canada.
This declaration must state that the pallets, skids, crates and/or boxes
must be derived from trees harvested in Canada or the United States.
This announcement greatly affects companies who ship on refurbished
or used pallets; if a Certificate of Origin cannot be provided, a used
or refurbished pallet must be treated to the ISPM #15 standards before
crossing the border. This means that your used pallets must be heat
treated or fumigated and certified for export.
