NEW US BORDER REQUIREMENTS AS OF SEPTEMBER 16TH, 2005

The US Customs and Border services have announced that starting on September 16th, 2005, a declaration must be provided for all wooden packaging materials entering the United States from Canada. This declaration must state that the pallets, skids, crates and/or boxes must be derived from trees harvested in Canada or the United States. This announcement greatly affects companies who ship on refurbished or used pallets; if a Certificate of Origin cannot be provided, a used or refurbished pallet must be treated to the ISPM #15 standards before crossing the border. This means that your used pallets must be heat treated or fumigated and certified for export.

Failure to comply with this regulation may result in the load being refused or having the load fumigated and treated at the shipper's expense. This may result in your shipment being impounded and treated - costing you and your customers valuable time and money. Barco Materials Handling is pleased to introduce our Used Pallet Treatment service for already purchased pallets. We are also able to supply New and Used skids, pallets, crates and boxes that are already treated and ready for use.
